Summary
How does one make an object matter? That is the concern underlying my show “the meaning of things.” In my installations and constructs, I was asking myself questions about my practice, and the objects it was producing.
To re-cap: The installation, “Plato’s Mighty Big Pot” was about standards of perfection: Is it perfect ?
“Production” was about: How many things did I make?
“Submit Slides”: How does the photograph look?
“Niche”: Is the work getting in the books?
“Cameo”: Does the work reflect the culture?
Later installations are in the same vein. “Show Your Work,” “Market Now!” and “Sail Away” continue the questioning.
